GLWR does not ship dogs, but if you are willing to travel to the state or region a dog is fostered in to meet them, then you are welcome to apply for adoption. With the increased cost of travel, GLWR will do what we can to make it easy for potential adopters to meet dogs.

Say hello to Aurora. She is a lovely blue girl just under 5 years old. Aurora is looking for a new home that is a bit quieter in nature with adults or a family with older children. She is good with other dogs just not real keen on smaller sized children. They are a little to active for her. She is currently in a foster home in Michigan so we can get to know her a bit. Keep a watch for updates on Aurora and when she will be available.

Good day - my name is Austin - I am a sweet ole boy with lots of love to give. I am quiet, friendly and social with other dogs. Doc said that I am in good shape for my age and am doing well. My previous family said that I did not do well with cats but as you can see from my pictures I have learned to adjust and one of my best bud's is my foster family's house cat! I do enjoy an occasional jaunt to hunt the yard critters though. I have a bit of a Walter Matthau personality until you get to know me - a bit stubborn and pig headed sometimes but ultimately just a friend and buddy who wants to hang out with you. I have a special pillow that I love to snuggle with a night - there is no such thing as being to old for a snuggle pillow! I would love to meet you and chat a bit to see if I might want to come home with you. How about completing the application at GLWR and let's hang for a bit and see if you and I may want to chill. Meet Bosco! Bosco was left at a local animal control facility when his owners said they were moving. Unfortunately, they left him there with several large tumors that left their Veterinarian worried. They called GLWR and we were happy to help Bosco. Our Veterinarian removed the largest tumors and those thought critical and much to our happy surprise they were all just fatty tumors. Bosco is still a bit "lumpy" but is in overall good shape with no serious issues. That does not hinder this happy, go lucky boy who loves everyone and everything. he has personality plus and is a wonderful fella! If you don't mind a few lumps Boscos could be a great addition to your home. He is great with other dogs, kids, cats and free roams the house without issue. He would be great as an only dog or with other canine companions. If you have some space in your heart and home for Bosco please get in touch with us!

Say hello to Enzo!! Enzo is a awesome guy! Personality and size plus!! Enzo is a bit on the super size on the weim scale. He is a well bred 7 year old fella that had that handsome old style block head and is a solidly built weim at about 95 lbs or so. A full size couch is definitely needed for this big fella to stretch out on!! Enzo can be a bit uncertain, hesitant and shy a first but once he warms up (yummy treats definitely help warm him up quickly) he is a gentle giant who smiles a "toothy grin" at you when you come home and takes his duties on Chippie Patrol very seriously. Enzo is great with other dogs and also with people once he gets to know you a bit. Although he came from a home with children we really feel that a quiet adult only home would be best for Enzo. Enzo likes to stay close but is not clingy, he is good with others but can be an only dog as well (no cats please), likes to give gentle kisses, is relatively quiet (not a big barker) and has great recall. He travels ok too! If you have space in your quiet more rural home and room in your heart Enzo may be the boy for you!! If so, please click over to our website and contact our applications coordinators through the adoptions page. In the meantime Enzo will ensure every Chippie is accounted for and will remain on patrol at his West Michigan foster home!

Hunter is a six year old silver male located in West Olive, MI. Hunter is the perfect gentlemen, and is good with dogs, kids, and doesn't have a strong prey drive. He has very good leash manners unless he's on his way to play fetch or go to doggie daycare in which case his enthusiasm gets the best of him and he can't help pulling on his leash! Hunter taught his foster brother that you can indeed fit two tennis balls in your mouth when playing fetch! Clearly he is a pro at the game. Hunter was surrendered by his owners because they could no longer manage his separation anxiety. We are seeking a home for him where through exercise, routine, training and patience he can be worked with to avoid separation and reduce his anxiety. A retired family or one where someone works from home would be ideal. Hunter did great when he attended doggie daycare!. Hunter could be an only dog, or could be a great addition to a pack. Hunter has completed beginner and intermediate obedience, so all the foundations are there, but he could use some polishing on his verbal commends. He does very well with "Sit", "Shake", "Come", "Down". "Stay" needs some work, but he is very food motivated and that makes training move along quickly! Hunter is quite the snuggler, and prefers to be under covers when snuggling with a human or laying in his dog bed at night. If he's not snuggling, or playing fetch, Hunter would love to go for a car ride. He is wonderful in the car and really seems to enjoy looking out the window and watching the world go by!

Meet Jack!! Jack is a terrific 5 year old blue boy! Smaller in size but he sure has a big personality! Jack is terrific with other dogs and was also raised in a home with children in the family who often used Jack as personal pillows! Jack has one issue and that is his love of chasing moving objects. Bicycles, skateboards, etc. are too enticing and stimulates the prey/chase instinct in Jack. He gets so excited he just cannot contain himself. So, we are looking for a home in a quieter rural area but a family that will still be able to give Jack an outlet for all his energy. He travels well in the car and loves trips to the dog park, playing ball and just cuddling with you on his down time. If you feel that you may be able to provide Jack with the right environment and are looking for a special pup to complete your family then get in touch with the GWLR applications team by clicking over to our website and visit the adoption tab! Jack is currently being fostered in the West Michigan area!

Paladin (blue, goes by Pal) and Baxter (silver), a bonded pair of litter mates, who are 1.5 years old males are looking for a new home together. Important to note that the brothers are not just littermates, they are truly bonded and we will only consider a home for them together. These boys were owner surrendered because their puppy behaviors were too much for their owner. After spending some time at one of our excellent foster homes for some polishing these boys are available for adoption! Speaking of polishing, the boys are working on greeting people at the door without jumping and barking and on their leash manners. While the boys are still excitable when people visit, they calm down quickly. Occasionally, they will attempt to jump up on a visitor but readily respond to verbal correction. Ongoing training, consistency and ultimately maturity will be needed for continuous improvement. They have improved their leash manners greatly with twice daily walks. It takes a couple blocks for Paladin to stop pulling (with correction) but after that he gets into the groove. The boys are friendly and appropriate with both people and other dogs. They have a dedicated fan-base of kids at the skate park they pass on our trail treks. Baxter’s prey drive is high and that compromises his recall. Pal is quick to respond but when he notices Baxter is not following, Pal will return to Baxter’s side. For this reason, they will need more training before they can be considered reliable off-leash in an unfenced area. Also, due to a high prey drive they will not be a good fit for a home with cats or other small pets. A sense of humor is a must for their new family. The chuckles and belly laughs will be boundless with these two characters. Given their youth, size and enthusiasm they would be best suited for a family with older teens and not small children. Also, because of Pal’s predilection for nabbing all manner of items and challenging commands, a keen eye and consistent follow through will be needed to help him continue his journey of personal growth. Baxter does not like other dogs encroaching his space while he sleeps but people are okay. Like many Weims, Baxter is a superb snuggler and can obtain testimony from many visitors to his foster home that he is a true snuggle bug. Pal is also very loving and a terrific napping partner. As devoted as the boys are to each other, they are doubly loyal to their people. They will follow you everywhere and are true velcro Weims! Pal in particular still displays some separation anxiety. He howls when left alone and it is heart wrenching. GLWR will give preference to a home that can make sure they are left at home alone for a minimum amount of time. Daycare would also be a serious consideration as an alternative to being left at home and would help burn off energy. The boys have had many adventures and been introduced to many new things while in foster. They are terrific travelers, sleeping or quietly watching the landscape while in a car. Their favorite excursion was to a farm in Wisconsin. The guys were introduced to some friendly heifers and their calves. It was a mutual lovefest! And adorable as heck! The boys love cows! If you are interested in this dynamic duo please contact GLWR for an application. They are anxiously waiting for their next adventure!

Hello! My name is Sterlyn and I am a BIG, TALL, 8-year-old boy! Surprisingly, for my size, I am very calm, quiet and I rarely bark. I am VERY food driven though and while I do not guard against humans, I likely would with another dog. I am fine with other dogs in general, but I need to be fed separately. I am a very happy, gentle giant with a little arthritis in my left hock from an old injury when I was hit by a car, but it does not slow me down. I am crate trained, but due to my size, I am much happier free roaming. I am a good boy, very clean and I do not chew or soil anything. I am probably better off in a cat-free home, but I have a low prey drive and may be OK once I get to know the cat. I am a very social boy with other dogs, but I like to avoid confrontation whenever possible with the younger Weims. I have a slight seasonal allergy that can be managed with a little Benadryl and I have recently developed diabetes, which is managed with insulin at $25 a month. So what do you think? Are you interested in bringing home a big lug of a Weim who would love to have a soft place to lay his bones at night?

My name is Thor and I am a beautiful, 2-year-old male that is as sweet as they come! I came to GLWR with a disability in my hips and legs from a past trauma to my pelvis that went untreated. As a result of that injury, I have some lasting neurological damage. Other than that, I am a sweet, adorable Weim. I will always be a special needs dog and will require regular, long-term homeopathic vet care. My adopters must commit to financially supporting my medical needs, in addition to meeting my daily needs, which include specific potty duties and washing. And in return, I promise to love and cherish you with all of my great big Weimy heart! I need baby gates in front of all the steps except for the ones to get outside because, in general, stairs are difficult for me. My foster family has worked very hard with me, investing time, patience, and love to build my strength. The results have been nothing short of a miracle. I like to go for walks and can go up to three miles. I also love walks on the beach or in the woods. When I get tired, I begin to hop. I am create trained and that is where I am when my foster parents go to work, but I am let out once during the day. I would love to find someone who works from home, is semi- or retired, or has a capable, responsible dog walker because three to four hours is my maximum crate time. My favorite thing in the world is a nasty looking soccer ball. I love playing chase with that ball. After potty and exercise time I like to hang out with my foster family and watch TV, just like any other Weim! I have not been able to get on the couch, but I love when someone comes to sit on the floor with me. I have a never ending appreciation for the care and attention that I get that helps me live a great dog life. I get along great with kids and other dogs. I would not do well in a home with stairs or hardwood, laminate or tiled floors. I really need a home with as much carpet as possible. If you think your heart and home has room for a sweet, lovable boy, please contact GLWR. I would love to find my forever family!
