GLWR does not ship dogs, but if you are willing to travel to the state or region a dog is fostered in to meet them, then you are welcome to apply for adoption. With the increased cost of travel, GLWR will do what we can to make it easy for potential adopters to meet dogs.

Meet Bailey - he came into rescue with his lifetime friend Paige. GLWR is looking to place them together in a home for the remainder of their golden years. Bailey is a big blue fella and for his 11 years is in relatively good shape. He has some rough elbow patches, a few lumps and skin tags but is still overall in decent health. He has really come out of his shell in his Lansing MI area foster home and has been enjoying all the attention turning into quite a ham. He was surrendered to GLWR when family circumstances changed due to a marriage and new children and they found themselves living in the basement of the family home where they were no longer wanted nor part of the family that they had been with for so many years. Thankfully they had a kind and caring relative in the family that was looking out for them and contacted GLWR to save them from the dog pound. GLWR was happy to help this gentle ole soul and his sister. How about you? Do you have space in your heart and home for this gentile fella and his lady friend?

"WHAT ABOUT BOB???" Well, Bob is awesome that's what! Bob is a handsome fella with a unique and goofy personality. He came to GLWR from a shelter where he was initially picked up as a stray and unclaimed. Imagine that - and such a fine looking fella too! Bob is an easy going guy that would love to have his own forever home. Like the movie character played by Bill Murray, Bob would really like to have a nice house where he has friends and family to hang out with and chill. He had a bit of anxiety when he first arrived and could be a it vocal but he has settled into the routine now and is more about loving and lounging. A decent energy level Bob loves people and hanging with the other dogs. Friendly and social he likes to sniff around the yard and keep track of what is going on. While he is a mild manner boy with no food or other issues he can be a bit jumpy at times when he gets excited to see you and so we are not suggesting a home with small children for Bob's home residence. Vistor's are fine with adult supervision. A retiree or semi-retiree that wants a cool companion to chill with would be a great fit for Bob. "SO WHAT ABOUT YOU?" Are you maybe the one to give Bob the "baby step" home therapy that he needs? If so, let's hear from you!

Hey there folks! My name is Brody and I am one handsome 14 month old blue boy! I am currently hanging out with the good folks at GLWR while they help me find my new family. I was raised right, trained well and loved but my family felt I needed a more active home and to be with someone who would be able to meet my exercise and active lifestyle needs. I am a typical velcro weim and love to be with you and follow you around the house. I like to snuggle and to "talk " a little at times too when feeling fisky! I was not raised in a home with children but have a pretty balanced personality and am good with people in general. I was professionally trained and taught not to jump and how to behave politely around visitors and new people. That being said with my energy level I think I would prefer to be in a home with either older or no children in the household. As far as other critters I am not quite sure. Never been around a cat but do like to watch & chase the little things that run around in the yard! I am good with other dogs albeit shy at first. I have been going to daycare and love socializing and playing all day but sure am pooped when I get home! I think maybe that is the plan??? So, if you think you might have a fun, loving home environment I think we should talk! Get a hold of the good folks at GLWR and let's chat!

Emma is a lovely mid-aged gal. She is a a quiet girl in general but stays alert and will let you know when someone is stopping by or if the squirrels, chippies or bunnies are getting close to the bird feeders. Emma is a very devoted girl and tends to bond closely to her people family. She came from a quiet environment with a couple in retirement and so we are looking for the same type of home for Emma. Emma can be around children when they visit without issue, however, as she can be a bit shy children living in the household would not provide a peaceful home for Emma. Also, although we listed Emma as good with other dogs she has not been accustomed to other dogs in the home for several years. She can be protective with other dogs for space, food or toys - especially balls. Emma LOVES her red rubber ball and will play fetch or carry it around with her for hours! For that reason we are seeking a home where Emma can be with someone as an only dog. She is fine with dogs during social visits and enjoys canine companion socialization she prefers to share her home space with just her humans. Emma is well trained and listens staying close to her people when outside (after bonding of course). She is terrific in the home and respectful of people space although she will curl up on the couch and snooze if allowed. If you are looking for a healthy, quiet mature gal as a four legged fur companion and can give her a active but quiet home Emma may just the right girl for you!

Fostered in the FORT WAYNE, IN area Huck and Finn are ready and LOOKING for a forever home! If you are looking for two goofy boys - here they are!! We occasionally find ourselves with a non-Weimaraner in our rescue. That happened last month when we just couldn't say no to this dynamic duo from a shelter we were working with to obtain a Weim from requested help rehoming with this pair. Huck and Finn are 10 month old BlueTick Coonhounds that are currently being fostered in Indiana. They are neutered, current on their heart worm, and all vaccines. Their foster Mom shared an update with us today: "The boys have a grasp of basic commands- come, sit, lay, off, down, leave it, quiet. They are 100% if you have treat in-hand, 50-50 without a culinary reward. Leash training nose-to-the-ground hounds is a particular challenge. They will be country dogs for sure! They are keen to entertain themselves with games of chase, a puppy version of mixed martial arts, and love playing with dog toys. At doggie daycare they have become the most popular pups with canines and humans alike. Car rides are always a calm affair with the harness/seat belt system. Huck & Finn have proved themselves to be very child-friendly, affectionate, loyal, sweet, and just goofy puppies. I do not want to miss a window for potential adopters to experience this sweet frolicking puppy stage of life that is fleeting." We are looking for a more rural home for Huck and Finn where they can follow their noses and share their findings with the world! We would like to see these bonded brothers placed in a home and family together if possible. If you are interested in adopting, please visit our website and download an adoption application.

Meet Paige - she came into rescue with her lifetime friend Bailey. GLWR is looking to place them together in a home for the remainder of their golden years. Paige is a lovely, sweet affectionate gal with a cute cowlick and is 12 years young. She has a few lumps and skin tags but is still overall in decent health. She is on Proin due to some aging muscles but with the inexpensive medication is doing great and does not have any issues. She is one of the sweetest gals you will meet, friendly and affectionate to anyone who crosses her path! She is fostered in the same loving foster home in the Lansing MI area that her brother Bailey is currently at as well. She was surrendered to GLWR when family circumstances changed due to a marriage and new children and they found themselves living in the basement of the family home where they were no longer wanted nor part of the family that they had been with for so many years. Hello! My name is Sterlyn and I am a BIG, TALL, 8-year-old boy! Surprisingly, for my size, I am very calm, quiet and I rarely bark. I am VERY food driven though and while I do not guard against humans, I likely would with another dog. I am fine with other dogs in general, but I need to be fed separately. I am a very happy, gentle giant with a little arthritis in my left hock from an old injury when I was hit by a car, but it does not slow me down. I am crate trained, but due to my size, I am much happier free roaming. I am a good boy, very clean and I do not chew or soil anything. I am probably better off in a cat-free home, but I have a low prey drive and may be OK once I get to know the cat. I am a very social boy with other dogs, but I like to avoid confrontation whenever possible with the younger Weims. I have a slight seasonal allergy that can be managed with a little Benadryl and I have recently developed diabetes, which is managed with insulin at $25 a month. So what do you think? Are you interested in bringing home a big lug of a Weim who would love to have a soft place to lay his bones at night?

My name is Thor and I am a beautiful, soon to be 4-year-old male that is as sweet as they come! I came to GLWR when I was 5 months old with an inherited congenital birth defect called Myelodysplasia (spinal dysraphism), which is nothing more than an incomplete formation of the neural tube (spinal cord) from some abnormality in my genetic makeup. Some of my neural pathways are incomplete and so I can have some sensory challenges. It is a non-degenerative albeit permanent condition that will not worsen and I am not in any pain. I do not take any medication but I do benefit from occasional chiropractic adjustments and have also has some acupuncture therapy that has been helpful in the past. I have progressed to full autonomy and far exceeded everyone's expectations for my mobility. I do tend to tire prematurely when I play but I do LOVE to play with balls, sticks and my canine friends in a game of chase in the yard. Staying in a routine helps me with my potty breaks and with a standard household routine I live a pretty normal life! an. Outside of that I am a well socialized and happy and a typical young weim. I will always be a special needs dog and will require regular, long-term homeopathic vet care. My adopters must commit to financially supporting my medical needs (chiropractic mostly), in addition to meeting my daily needs, which include specific potty duties and sometimes washing. If you can help keep a routine my maintenance is pretty normal! In return, I promise to love and cherish you with all of my great big Weimy heart! I need baby gates in front of all the steps except for the ones to get outside because, in general, stairs are difficult for me as they require coordination that sometimes is difficult when going up and down. My foster family has worked very hard with me, investing time, patience, and love to build my strength. The results have been nothing short of a miracle. Some more things about me...I like to go for walks and can go up to three miles. I also love walks on the beach or in the woods. When I get tired, I begin to hop. I am crate trained and that is where I am when my foster parents go to work, but I am let out once during the day. I would love to find someone who works from home, is semi- or retired, or has a capable, responsible dog walker because three to four hours is my maximum crate time. My favorite thing in the world is a nasty looking soccer ball. I love playing chase with that ball. After potty and exercise time I like to hang out with my foster family and watch TV, just like any other Weim! I have not been able to get on the couch, but I love when someone comes to sit on the floor with me. I have a never ending appreciation for the care and attention that I get that helps me live a great dog life. I get along great with kids and other dogs. I would not do well in a home with stairs or hardwood, laminate or tiled floors. I really need a home with as much carpet as possible. If you think your heart and home has room for a sweet, lovable boy, please contact GLWR. I would love to find my forever family!
