Hey there meet Ms Chloe!! CHloe is a young girl and quite the comicallittle "spitfire"! She has athletic ability that will blow your socks off! This little girl can leap three feet into the air and sail over obstacles like she is flying! She would make an absolutely awesome agility or versatility dog! She is very smart and learns quickly and love sto play and have fun. Her favorite game is to play/catch hid seek with her foster folks. She can wait until the last minute and pounce and bounce with "catlike" reflexes. Chloe is excellent and quite in her crate and has no issues being crated while you are away until you and her have built up the trust factor to leave her free roam in our home. Chloe is a delightful, happy, silly little girl! Due to her quick reflexes we are recommending that she be placed in an adult only home and with someone that has good training skills and the patience to work with her. We truly feel that with the right mentor Chloe could be one amazing little girl. The caveat to Chloe is that she has a dominant personality and has never been well socialized around other dogs. She does not understand boundaries of greeting other dogs and how to play often misreading the other dogs behaviors. She is very responsive to correction and we feel that with patience, time and a strong human lead she can overcome her dog-dog meeting issues. We do not want to give up on Chloe and feel that she deserves a chance for the right adopter to find her! We would love to find someone to give her that chance. If you have a professional CPT or strong training performance dog training background and feel that you could help Chloe blossom to be the kind of amazing girl we think she could be please contact us for an application. We and Chloe would love to chat with you! GLWR Adoptable Weim Mix - Emmy Lou, 3-4 years old, needs a home! Hi everyone, I am sure you have seen my post before but incase you haven't I am Emmy Lou. I am approximately a 3-4 year old lady that is a Weimaraner Mix here at GLWR. My foster dad is not sure exactly what my mix is but they are guessing hound or beagle however I only let it show when I get excited. Then you can hear it in my bark a little. Much like my previous post says I am a compact version weighing in at about 50 lbs and being a little shorter than a traditional Weim. I would love a family with a nice quiet home and soft dog bed for me. I do like to steal a spot on the couch and love giving hugs. I still am not a fan of loud noises such as loud trucks, hammers pounding and guns or fireworks. My leash manners have gotten a lot better although I still forget once in a while and give a tug but realize quickly I need to slow down some. I am crate trained, get a long with other dogs, enjoy car rides and have no troubles with baths. I love it at my foster home but hear stories of some of my fellow foster brothers and sisters getting their fur-ever home and I can not wait to get my own fur-ever home as well. If you think I would be a wonderful addition to your family please fill out an application through GLWR. Furry hugs and kisses, Emmy Lou type here   Great Lakes Weimaraner Rescue is an all volunteer, nonprofit group whose primary mission is to help with the rescue and placement of Weims in the Great Lakes region; including Michigan, Ohio, Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, and Ontario.   GLWR is headquartered in Michigan with a network of foster homes in our State & Country Chapters. Hi, my name is Shadow! My foster mom says although technically I’m a senior, you shouldn’t be fooled by my age. She says I have the energy level of a four-year-old, whatever that means. Before I came to live with my foster mom, I lived most of my life in a barn. I wasn’t treated badly or starved, and I was allowed to roam the barn. I don’t have a kennel and I get to roam the house, but I’m usually always in the same room as my foster mom. I am a Velcro dog, after all. My foster mom pulled out a basket of all these really cool toys for me to play with. I love to play catch with a ball in the house (Mom says I would be a great addition to the Detroit Tigers at any position). I will sit when asked, but I don’t like to shake. True to my heritage, I have a pretty strong prey drive (so no cats, please!_ and always seem to walk with my nose to the ground. Mom says I also need some leash work, since I’m a tugger when we walk. They say I like other dogs, but my foster mom hasn’t tested it too many times. I know I’d be happy being the only dog in a house, because I know I definitely love humans. I am good with kids also! Mom says I’ll lick you to death! My name is Thor and I am a beautiful, soon to be 4-year-old male that is as sweet as they come! I came to GLWR when I was 5 months old with an inherited congenital birth defect called Myelodysplasia (spinal dysraphism), which is nothing more than an incomplete formation of the neural tube (spinal cord) from some abnormality in my genetic makeup. Some of my neural pathways are incomplete and so I can have some sensory challenges. It is a non-degenerative albeit permanent condition that will not worsen and I am not in any pain. I do not take any medication but I do benefit from occasional chiropractic adjustments and have also has some acupuncture therapy that has been helpful in the past. I have progressed to full autonomy and far exceeded everyone's expectations for my mobility. I do tend to tire prematurely when I play but I do LOVE to play with balls, sticks and my canine friends in a game of chase in the yard. Staying in a routine helps me with my potty breaks and with a standard household routine I live a pretty normal life! an. Outside of that I am a well socialized and happy and a typical young weim. I will always be a special needs dog and will require regular, long-term homeopathic vet care. My adopters must commit to financially supporting my medical needs (chiropractic mostly), in addition to meeting my daily needs, which include specific potty duties and sometimes washing. If you can help keep a routine my maintenance is pretty normal! In return, I promise to love and cherish you with all of my great big Weimy heart! I need baby gates in front of all the steps except for the ones to get outside because, in general, stairs are difficult for me as they require coordination that sometimes is difficult when going up and down. My foster family has worked very hard with me, investing time, patience, and love to build my strength. The results have been nothing short of a miracle. Some more things about me...I like to go for walks and can go up to three miles. I also love walks on the beach or in the woods. When I get tired, I begin to hop. I am crate trained and that is where I am when my foster parents go to work, but I am let out once during the day. I would love to find someone who works from home, is semi- or retired, or has a capable, responsible dog walker because three to four hours is my maximum crate time. My favorite thing in the world is a nasty looking soccer ball. I love playing chase with that ball. After potty and exercise time I like to hang out with my foster family and watch TV, just like any other Weim! I have not been able to get on the couch, but I love when someone comes to sit on the floor with me. I have a never ending appreciation for the care and attention that I get that helps me live a great dog life. I get along great with kids and other dogs. I would not do well in a home with stairs or hardwood, laminate or tiled floors. I really need a home with as much carpet as possible. If you think your heart and home has room for a sweet, lovable boy, please contact GLWR. I would love to find my forever family!
